Parents of children who are lucky enough to live in the Northstar community have many choices of both private schools and an exemplary public school district – the Northwest Independent School District. This is a highly rated, public school district, covering more than 234 square miles, is one of the largest school districts in the area, and spans three counties (Tarrant, Denton, and Wise) and 14 municipalities.
The district operates 20 elementary schools, six middle schools, three comprehensive high schools, and one accelerated high school. According to state test scores, 59% of students are at least proficient in math and 60% in reading. Overall, the school district has earned an “A” rating.

Northwest ISD schools that are near Northstar are in Justin, which is about 23 minutes from the community and can be accessed by taking this route. From Northstar Parkway, take Highway 4925 north to Texas 114 East. Next, follow S County Line Rd to FM 407 East to Justin.
An Easy Commute to Major Employment Centers
Living in Northstar can save time on the daily commute. Here are some large employers that are minutes from the community.
Alliance Airport
Located about 18 miles from Northstar is one of the largest commercial shipping hubs in Texas, Fort Worth Alliance Airport. Because of its size, this airport is surrounded by distribution centers for several large companies, including:
- Amazon Fulfillment Center
- FedEx Ship Center – Regional Hub
- JC Penny Distribution Logistics Center
- UPS Customer Center
- BNSF Railway Company Intermodal Facility
The trip to these employment centers takes about 18 minutes from this master-planned community. The best route from Northstar Parkway is to take Sendera Ranch Boulevard to Avondale Haslet Road. Then take Westport Parkway and Heritage Parkway to Alliance Airport. These other companies are within a few minutes of the airport.
DFW Airport
Employees who work for commercial air carriers have an easy commute from Northstar to DFW Airport, the third busiest airport in the world. It’s as simple as taking County Rd 4925 North to TX-114 E in Wise County. After connecting to 114 East, it’s a straight shot to the DFW entrance, International Parkway. The total travel time is about 38 minutes.
Downtown Fort Worth Business District
One of the most dynamic business districts in the Southwest is downtown Fort Worth. Banking, insurance, legal, accounting, and an astounding range of business services are all found in this area. The great news for residents is that the commute takes about 25 minutes. From Northstar Parkway and Bates Aston Road, it is simply a matter of jumping on US – 287 South/US 81 South and exiting on to Belknap in downtown Fort Worth.
Texas Health Resources
Healthcare is an important part of the DFW economy and one of the largest is Texas Health Resources located in Arlington. Northstar residents who work for this great company can get to work and return home with very few headaches. From Northstar Parkway, residents access US 287 South and travel 15 minutes to I35 West. Next, take TX-183 E and TX-360 S to Lincoln Dr in Arlington. Take exit 28A from I-30 W. Total trip takes about 40 minutes.
Lockheed Martin Corporation
The headquarters for a long-time defense contractor and technology firm, Lockheed Martin is about 22 minutes from Northstar. The best route for this commute is on US-287 S/US-81 S for 15 miles to I 35 West. Traveling south, take Exit 58, follow Western Center Boulevard, Riverside Drive, and then Sandshell Drive to 5401 North Beach Street.
